Support

Maggie’s offers free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends. Help is offered freely to anyone with any type of cancer. Simply drop-in at any time – you’re always welcome.

There is a Maggie’s centre in the grounds of the Freeman Hospital- pop in for help, information or a cuppa.

Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care offers staffed custom-made vehicles to transport outpatients, free of charge, to and from Hospital who are undergoing Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy cancer treatment.

The regions to be covered by Daft as a Brush are: Northumberland, North and South Tyneside, Durham, Newcastle upon Tyne and surrounding areas. There would be no charge to the patients for our Service. The service would entail collecting and transporting the patients in a safe and comfortable environment, from where they are living, taking them to where they will be having their treatment. If required staying with the patient whilst they have their treatment and then bringing them back home in readiness for their next course of treatment.

If you have cancer, have had cancer in the past, are caring for someone with cancer, have a child or family member with cancer, or have been bereaved, you are welcome at Cancer Connections. They provide: Telephone help.Cancer Drop-In,Counselling, Complementary therapies, Family support, Welfare Benefits advice, Information about cancer, Bereavement support for Adults, Families and Children.

Mission is to improve survival and quality of life for patients with Oesophageal and Gastric Cancer. This is done by increasing awareness and encouraging early diagnosis and by providing advice and support throughout the journey.

Shine is the only UK charity that exists exclusively to support adults in their 20s, 30s and 40s who have experienced a cancer diagnosis.

Their vision is that every adult in the UK living with cancer in their 20s, 30s or 40s can access the help and support that they need in a way that suits their lifestyle, and that they are a part of a confident, supportive and empowered community of young adults living with cancer.

To provide tailored information and peer support for anyone in their 20s, 30s or 40s diagnosed with any cancer. We do this through a range of activities including lunches and drinks evenings, beach walks, multi-day getaways, workshops, online networking, and mentoring.
